The planned features to be included in Ubuntu 7.10 “Gutsy Gibbon” have been finalized and announced today. Most of the features are minor because of the usual 6 month release plan which will result in a final release in October. Here is a summary:
- latest version on GNOME
- compositing window manager by default with Metacity as a fall back
- 2.6.22 Linux kernel
- Xorg 7.3, RandR 1.2, xserver 1.4
- some winmodems will be supported
- mobile and Embedded edition
- AppArmor security framework for servers
- functionality with a full filesystem
- Upstart 0.5
