New Features I Missed in Ubuntu 7.10
A to the point article at the Tolero’s tech notes blog covers all the new features and changes in the upcoming Ubuntu 7.10 release. During the development I have written and tried out a lot of the new features, but there were are few little things I didn’t see. Here the the features I missed which you may have also:
- startup and shutdown splash screens don’t flash anymore
- NTFS file system support is enabled by default
- X does not need to be restarted to use new settings
- login to GNOME will work even with a full file system
- brushes in the Gimp image editor are scalable
- the new wireless and Firewire stacks are included in the kernel
- collaboration between Canonical and Intel to reduce power consumption
The beta of Ubuntu 7.10 should be released soon, followed by a release candidate.
