Anonymous:
You won't get a notification about a new version, just install the usual updates and your installation will become the final release. As for the trouble updating, the servers are probably overloaded today. Check out this post to try and find a faster one:

audun:
I'm assuming that you're talking configuration left on your home partition from a previous installation. You can start fresh by removing the files and folders beginning with a dot in your home directory, which will wipe out all of your settings. Or you could create a new user.

There's so much weird configuration in my current Ubuntu-install, how do one remove the current install to start all over again with Hardy Heron?

I downloaded the last beta release and have been using that for a couple weeks now. I've been trying all day to update it to the full thing and when I run the update manager it instantly downloads 10 updates and hangs at the 11th. There are 20 total and it always quits before downloading 11-20. I never get a notification that there is a new version. Any ideas?

Have downloaded and installed. Exploring the cool new features, and must say, I am impressed. Detailed report in a while!
